Last updated May 18, 2026. This page explains what we collect and, more to the point, how little.

The short version

Octopedia is built so your team's knowledge stays with your team. Your vault is a git repository of plain markdown. On a self-hosted install it never leaves your network. On the managed cloud it lives in storage provisioned for your team alone, isolated from every other tenant.

This website

The Teals.ai marketing site is a static set of files. It sets no tracking cookies and embeds no advertising networks. Your browser loads the Fraunces typeface from Google Fonts, which means a font request reaches Google's servers. Nothing else about your visit is recorded by us beyond standard, short-lived server access logs.

The product

When you run Octopedia, it stores the entities your team creates as markdown files, along with the metadata needed to index and search them. On the managed cloud we also keep the account details required to sign you in and the operational logs required to keep the service healthy. We do not sell this information, and we do not use the contents of your vault to train models.

Your choices

Because the vault is an ordinary git repository, you can export it at any time by cloning it, and you can delete it by removing it. If you use the managed cloud and want your account and data removed, contact us and we will take care of it.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, open an issue on the Octopedia repository and we will answer in the open.
